Hire Accountants
Accounting is the highest-volume commercial role we recruit for, and the one where a bad hire is discovered latest. Errors surface at the next GST filing, the next audit or the next reconciliation, by which time they have compounded. So the screen is almost entirely practical: which filings have they personally prepared, which reconciliations do they close, and what do they do when the bank statement and the ledger disagree.
How We Fill It
The band and the screen depend on what you actually need. Transaction-level data entry in Tally, a standalone accountant closing the books for a small company, GST and TDS compliance ownership, and a senior accountant running month-end for a multi-entity group are four different roles that all carry the title 'accountant'.
Software familiarity matters less than people assume, with one exception. Tally to Zoho or Busy is a week; anything to SAP or Oracle is a genuine learning curve, and if you run SAP you should source SAP-experienced candidates rather than hoping someone picks up FICO on the job.

Salary Benchmark
Indicative metro ranges for 2026 — Delhi NCR, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Pune and Chennai. Tier-2 cities typically run 20–30% lower for the same scope.
| Experience | Indicative CTC | What that buys |
|---|---|---|
| 0–2 years | ₹2.4–4.2 LPA | Data entry and basic reconciliation; large supply |
| 3–5 years | ₹4.2–7.5 LPA | Independent accountant; GST and TDS ownership |
| 6–9 years | ₹7.5–13 LPA | Senior accountant or accounts manager running the close |
| 10+ years | ₹13–22 LPA | Finance manager without a CA qualification |
These are negotiating frames drawn from the mandates we run, not a quote. Bands move with sector, funding stage, city and how scarce the specific skill is in that market — ask us for a benchmark against your exact role and location.
Our Screen
Hands-on accounting software, GST and TDS working knowledge, bank and ledger reconciliation ability, Excel at a practical level, and an answer to what they do when two records disagree
B.Com or M.Com, CA Inter or CMA Inter for senior seats, your ERP specifically, audit-support experience, multi-entity or multi-state GST exposure, and e-invoicing and e-way bill familiarity
Whether they prepared the filing or only entered the data, whether the close was theirs or a consultant's, and how they handle a deadline they are going to miss
JD Outline
Use this as the starting point for your job description — it is the scope we brief candidates on.
Interview Structure
Four rounds, each testing something different. Rounds that repeat each other cost you candidates without improving the decision.
Software used, filings personally prepared, reconciliations owned, close involvement, and whether a consultant did the work they are claiming.
Entries in your software, a bank reconciliation with deliberate mismatches, and a GST computation. This single round decides most accountant hires.
GST return types and due dates, TDS sections and rates for common payments, and what happens on a late filing. Current, specific, and not bluffable.
How they flag a problem upward, how they handle pressure to post something they are unsure about, and how organised their documentation is.
Why It Stays Open
We raise these at the briefing rather than after a month of silence.
Tally proficiency is easy to claim and easy to teach. Accuracy and the instinct to reconcile are neither. A practical test with deliberate mismatches tells you more in forty minutes than three interviews.
In many small companies a CA firm prepares the returns and the in-house accountant only supplies data. Both CVs read the same. If you need the filing owned in-house, test for it specifically.
An accountant who owns GST, TDS and the month-end close for a multi-entity business is not a ₹3 lakh hire. Budgeting at the bottom of the band and expecting the top of the scope is why these roles churn.
One person recording, approving and paying is a fraud risk regardless of how good they are. Candidates with good training ask about this, and a company with no answer is a signal to them too.

Yes. This is the deepest pool we recruit for and a screened shortlist usually reaches you within 24 to 48 working hours, with candidates available on 15 to 30 days' notice. For an audit or year-end crunch we can also place accountants on contract through our own payroll with statutory compliance handled by us.
Only for SAP and Oracle. Tally, Zoho Books, Busy, Marg and QuickBooks are close enough that a competent accountant is productive in a week. SAP FICO and Oracle are different — the transaction structure and controls take months to absorb — so if you run either, source for it specifically rather than planning to train.
An accountant for the transaction layer, reconciliation, GST and TDS filing and the month-end close. A CA when you need statutory judgement, audit interface, tax structuring or management reporting that drives decisions. Hiring a CA to do data entry is expensive and they leave; hiring an accountant to make judgement calls is a risk.
We ask which filings and reconciliations they personally prepared and what they do when a bank statement and the ledger disagree, and we recommend a short practical test as your first round — entries in your software, a reconciliation with deliberate mismatches and a GST computation. It is the single most predictive step in hiring for this role.
